Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all been well this April.  I’ve been getting back into the groove this month and have some exciting news to share with you!  This month’s had a lot happen online although the number of visitors to my blog has been down a little.  I’m not too bothered about statistics although it’s always a exciting to have more visitors than less.

April is of course the month I began this blog and so My Peacock Books is officially a year old!  If you haven’t already seen my anniversary post then please do check it out.

Goodreads top reviewer
I reached number #6 when I took this snapshot then the next day climbed to #2!

Goodreads gave me an unexpected surprise this month where I managed to reach the top reviewer page in number #2!  I’m not sure how this happened though, I don’t think I left 89+ reviews in a week but it was exciting to be top reviewer for a time (currently #22 and falling fast) as I don’t have many friends or interactions yet on Goodreads.

Being a top reviewer on Goodreads made me visible to some people and I received some book review requests, one of which will be part of a future post (although I warn you now it’s not a pleasant post!).

This month I also discovered a problem which some of you may have been having on my blog.  I haven’t had anyone pin any of my posts for a long time and only recently discovered why it’s been happening.  I’ll be posting up a blog post about it and what could possibly be stopping your posts from getting pinned on Pinterest but I’d just like everyone to know that it IS working now so feel free to pin away 🙂

Now, on to the most popular posts of last month…

The most popular post was one I’ve already mentioned and that’s my anniversary post!  It’s so amazing to be able to celebrate the first anniversary with all of you.  As anyone who’s followed this blog for sometime knows by now that this isn’t my first time in running a blog but it is the first time I feel so happy and free and so good about this blog and blogging in general.  It feels so great to be a part of this community and to feel so free to have the blog exactly how I like it, Peacocks and all!  Check out the blog post if you haven’t already as I talk quite a bit in there about how the blog came to be, who I was before and the future…I promise it’s not as boring as I just made it sound!

My Peacock Books Book Haul bannerThe next most popular post on this blog in April, got the same number of views as March’s Round-up post.  It’s a book haul post of Walker Books can you believe it!  Perhaps it was the Judy Moody books that made the haul so popular, but I hope you enjoyed the post.  So many book reviews still to come from that book haul and they’ll all be appearing very soon so look out for them here.

The third most popular post was the tag/meme My Blog’s Name in Books.  This was a chance to show off many of the books in my to-be-read list while trying to spell out the name of this blog, not easy when ‘My Peacock Books’ contains three Os!

I enjoyed doing the tag and plan to do more in future, I might even take a chance and try to invent one myself!

No poetry or book reviews made it into the most popular blog posts on this blog this month although I’ve enjoyed sharing a lot with you.  I have lots (and I mean LOTS) of book reviews still to come on this blog as well as ideas on discussion posts, and various other things so I hope you’ll want to keep reading.

I’m reading more this month, taking some time away from books and then getting back into them you feel a sudden urge to read a pile of books, or at least that’s how I’ve felt.  With all the books I’ve received through publishers and my own browsing and buying at shops and libraries, I felt a little overwhelmed but then all I feel now is excited, like a child with a jar of its favourite sweets!  I can’t wait to pick another to consume!

I have a new schedule for this blog.  I will be posting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8AM British time.  The move from Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will become clear soon.  I might end up posting on other days of the week too at 8AM if there’s a word prompt I fancy taking part in or lots of book reviews I have waiting so check back to the previous day’s posts but you can be sure that Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will always have a blog post here to read.

I’m also excited by the fact that just one more follower to this blog will take the total to 600!  I’m hoping that if it hasn’t happened by the time this post goes out then maybe it will by the time everyone’s done reading it 🙂

I have one more piece of exciting news to share with you and that is that I’m no longer blogging just on this blog…I have another new blog, a very different blog but I’m excited to see where it will lead.  I’ll post a proper invite to that blog another day but if you do discover it before then, I hope you like what I’ve already started there 😊😊😊😊😊 ❤

Have you had a good April?  Did anything exciting happen?  What have you been reading or what are you looking forward to in May?  Let me know any thoughts you have, I love hearing from you 🙂

    • Thanks, it completely surprised me, I didn’t get any notification just happened to click on my profile and there it was! I think you’ll like that post, it’s short but definitely worth a bit of a rant against another author who doesn’t get it lol!

  1. Congratulations on getting to the top reviewer page, Cat! I don’t know where April went! One minute it was Easter and the next it’s the beginning of May! I’ve no idea what I did during the month 😀
