“Shhh… I’m hiding!”

The above picture is one I took from the London Pet Show last year.  It inspired this brief poem.  Hope it makes sense and you enjoy it, a little different from the usual poetry 🙂

Elastic Skin

You do not see,
You haven’t spied,
Where I stay,
Where I hide.

All you see,
Leaf or bark,
In the light,
In the dark.

A secret skin,
Colour change,
Keeps me safe,
With you in range.

So, you’ll not see,
Will not spy,
Where I stay,
Where I lie.

#Poetry: Why Did You? #MPBooks

A dark poem on a very dark subject we find difficult to speak about.

I must warn you that the following poem is a dark one with a dark theme which still makes many uncomfortable to speak openly about.  Written at a time I was feeling very down, I thought it was still okay to release it publicly, though it won’t be to everybody’s taste.  If you’d rather not read dark poetry then I’ll understand, but for those that wish to speak about the poem or the subject, please feel free to do so in the comments below ❤

Why Did You?

Why did you?
Family bond disown,
When you came to me,
Who was all alone.

Why did you?
Let me feel a sin,
As your hand did place,
Skin on skin.

Why did you?
Make a child lie,
When others saw,
A touch of thigh.

Why did you?
Never take the blame,
In your heart not once,
Feel the shame.

Why did you?
Think that ‘family’,
Gave you all the rights,
could you not see.

Why did you?
Keep the grin, the smile,
Act ‘all is well’,
While I tasted bile.

Why did you?
Make me feel true hate,
Wish for the day,
I’d see you cremate.

Why did you?
Let me shake and cry,
Wish that you,
Then I would die.

Why did you?

This is a tough topic to talk about but if you wish to leave comments please do, I’d like to hear what anyone wants to say 🙂

#MondayMotivation: Different is Fine #Poetry #MPBooks

We all feel different sometimes, but here’s a motivational message about feeling different.

Everyone is different but sometimes some of us feel as if being different is somehow wrong.  There’s nothing wrong with being different.  If you are odd or peculiar, know that it’s okay and embrace it, our difference is unique and can make us greater than others.  Enjoy this poem for some extra inspiration 🙂  Happy Monday everyone!

Different is Fine

Though you may feel strange inside,
Different from the rest.
Know inside your heart and mind,
You are truly blessed.

Though at times you feel alone,
As if no one does care.
Know inside your heart and mind,
There’s always someone there.

Though you suffer hurt within,
May want to run and hide.
Know inside your heart and mind,
Let truth within you guide.

Be yourself, be who you are,
Inside you are just fine.
Know your path is just delayed,
In time life let’s you shine.

Have you ever felt different?  How did or do you tackle it, if you have?  What do you think of the poem?  I’d love to hear your thoughts so please do comment 🙂  You can also soon find me in these places:

#Poetry: A Life Unfurled #MPBooks

A dark poem filled with pain.

Hidden Girl
Image from Pixabay.com

I want to warn everyone that today’s poem is dark and weird so those of you who are interested in only cheerful things may not want to read.  It’s a bit of a  weird poem as it was inspired by the emotional place I’ve been in the past, I’m not sure it was worth posting though and don’t worry as this is not a reflection on my life, though there is some truth to parts of it 😮  I hope someone out there ‘enjoys’ reading it 😕  Have a great Friday! ❤

A Life Unfurled

A truth kept hidden,
Always made to hide,
Never could be honest,
What I felt inside.

Felt shame just to meet,
Would never attend,
Any social gathering,
Was without friend.

Grew through the years,
Could never make start,
To be a new person,
Always felt apart.

Wanted to change,
But always afraid,
Soon felt soul,
Would be decayed.

Knew I  was throwing,
My Life away,
Felt I would die,
If I stayed this way,

Wanted to live,
A life of free,
Be rid of the pain,
That’s holding me.

So here I am,
Open to ache,
Will my heart,
Mend or break?

I tell you my story,
To save my own life,
Will you give me air,
Or use a knife?

What are your thoughts after reading this poem?  Reading back I’m not sure what to think myself so I’d love to hear from anyone.

#MondayMotivation: The Beautiful Path #Poetry #MPBooks

A motivational message for Monday and a poem.

Today I’d like to share with you a poem which I hope will inspire and motivate many of you.  We all take a journey from the moment we are born into this strange world.  It is important that no matter what happens we stay true to ourselves and not veer from our true path.  It can be hard to do what we know is best for ourselves, especially with outside influences including people getting in the way.  But if we stay true and follow our own paths, it will lead somewhere rewarding.  I hope you enjoy this message in poem form.  Please let me know what you think too as I’d love to hear any feedback:  Did you enjoy the poem, not enjoy it, or does this message resonate with you and your path?

The Beautiful Path

A lonely bud, contents confined,
Layers of hope not shown.
The world not seen, currently blind,
Untainted, newly sown.

Open self, begin to unwind,
Venture to unknown.
New of heart, new of mind,
Unique, not a clone.

Strength, courage, need to find,
To stay on path unblown.
Remain true, self unmined,
Until fully grown.

No matter, early or behind,
Path direct, windblown.
Life lead the heart assigned,
True beauty always shown.

#Poetry: Goodbye Dear Soul #MPBooks

A poem commemorating the loss of Humpty the Hippo ❤

Hippo
This is not Humpty the Hippo but an image of a pigmy hippo (I think) from Pixabay.com

A few days ago I found out about the sad news of a beautiful creature who sadly died.  In care of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a wonderful charity that rescues and raises orphaned elephants and other animals in Africa before returning them to a free and natural life in the wild, a beautiful baby hippo called ‘Humpty’ captured everyone’s hearts.  Humpty was rescued after being found alone stuck in a drying mud pool.  Alone and without her mother she would have died had it not been for the wonderful people at the Trust who rescued her and then tried to raise her.   It was the first baby hippo they had every tried to raise and she was doing very well until she became suddenly ill and died shortly after.  As a deep animal lover I was touched by Humpty’s rescue and have felt so saddened by her sudden death.  She did, however, have several beautiful months of happiness which she wouldn’t have without being rescued.

Humpty’s death, like the death of so many of our beloved creatures and loved ones can be very hard to cope with, but we must focus on the happy times and the love we have for them.  I’ve written a poem which I hope many may relate to.  It was my poem for Humpty, but it’s also what I felt when a close individual died.

Goodbye Dear Soul

A beautiful soul, now have passed,
You left this world, all too fast.
A void now where you did depart,
An empty space in my heart.
Your time was not meant so soon,
If only you, I could cocoon.
Protect and save from life askew,
Now empty space, I have in lieu.
Your stay was not meant to be,
Tether to world, now set free.
Your beauty, light, will shine always,
Love in heart, a burning blaze.
Remember you for evermore,
Your soul now free, at peace to soar.

#Poetry: Life With You #MPBooks

A poem with a twist.

Bouquet on floor

I really don’t want to comment on this poem here.  I’d rather you read it first and then tell me what you think.  I’d really like some opinions on this, it’s inspired by a daily prompt.

Life With You

I knew your pain as you did mine,
A kindred soul, love divine.
I wept, I shared all my fears,
You held me tight through all the tears.
Felt our hearts were true, entwined,
Our broken pasts were all behind.

I finally see through;
New life with you.

Together we made fresh new start,
Vowed to never be apart.
Happiness, peace, at last inside,
When we joined, husband, bride.
Pact, a promise we did seal,
For our lives, true ideal.

I finally see through;
New life with you.

Days and months becoming years,
Came the laughter, came the sneers.
Nothing ever done too right,
Always ready for a fight.
Talking in a monotone,
Left at home all alone.

I finally see through;
New life with you.

I knew your pain as you gave mine,
A blacked soul, love a brine.
I wept, realised all my fears,
You held me tight, caused all my tears.
Felt your heart untrue, I pined,
My broken past left me blind.

I finally see through;
Life: illusion with you.

This poem took me some time to write as it came from an emotional place.  Please let me know what you think of it.
