Whooo! Birthday! Whoooo!

As many of you know I had a birthday on Monday and it was lovely to get some messages from everyone here as well as on various social media and of course at home.Ā  I’ve had a great birthday and spent some time away and apart from a bit of a bout of headaches at the end of the week I’m still feeling very cheerful.Ā Ā I’ve taken a bit of time away from the blog, though you may not have noticed as I kept putting up my automatic blog posts šŸ˜€ .Ā  NotĀ only did IĀ receive lots of lovely birthday presents but alsoĀ some more book post which felt like a bit of a birthday present, andĀ I also treated myself to some bookish arty treats too!Ā  So I thought I’d share with you some of the books I got myself, beware there’sĀ a definite Christmassy colouring theme!

Firstly I got a great book in the post from Bookbridgr.Ā  I’m very much into books that look at cultural issues and am especially fascinated with things that happen in other countries so I was excited to be approved to read and review this:

A book proof and press release – I love getting proofs it feels kind of special!

The Maid’s Room by Fiona Mitchell – Set in the heat of Singapore, The Maid’s Room follows the lives of two Filipina maids- sisters Dolly and Tala who are working hard to send money back home and British ex-pat Jules who has left her job as a midwife to move to Singapore with husband David.

The book proof also has an unbelievably strong book smell – I’m a book sniffer and proud of it šŸ˜œā˜ŗļø!Ā  The next set of books are also a birthday present.Ā  it combines two things I love: Colouring and stickers!!Ā  I’ve always been a secret sticker-freak and these books let you colour in pictures and add stickers of cats and dogs to make the scenes fun…

Stickers, colouring and animals – bliss!

And finally the books I treated myself to!Ā  I can’t lie, I love Christmas and everything about it!Ā  My family has always enjoyed celebrating Christmas our way, stress-free and making sure we all enjoy it.Ā  I love anything with a Christmassy theme and Christmas pictures are some of my favourites to colour in.Ā  So I treated myself to these three books which are filled with Christmas pictures..

Christmas! (and cats! šŸ±)

I’ve also received a new sketchpad and some other greatĀ goodies šŸ™‚ So that’s it for my treats post.Ā  Do you like any of the books I’ve received, looking forward to any reviews I might make?Ā  I might just show off the colouring books in more detail in the future šŸ™‚Ā Ā  I’m going to be more active in a few days, I’ve got lots of posts I want to get out and done before Christmas.Ā  Although it’s still November I can tell you that I have Christmas posts lined up already, plus lots more reviews I really want to get done and posted before the end of the year.Ā  I hope you’ll want to stick with me throughout the next few weeks, and a big THANK YOU to everyone who follows, likes, comments and shares this blog.Ā  You guys are the reason I love blogging and keep coming back.Ā  šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ŠšŸ˜‡šŸ™ƒĀ ā¤ ā¤ ā¤

Well I’m lazy today.Ā  It IS my birthday but I took the day off and didn’t have anything prepared for my birthday blog post šŸ˜®Ā  So I thought I’d post a quick image I took which to me fits this week’s photo challenge: Temporary.Ā  To me berries and summer fruits are very temporary and as you can see from the photo these ones are already beginning to dry up.Ā  I’m also aware that birthdays are temporary, as they come and go only once a year šŸ™‚ šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‚Ā šŸ˜€

I’ll be back online later but I’m taking the morning off, hope you are all well and thank you all for the birthday wishes I’ve already received šŸ™‚ ā¤ ā¤ ā¤

Do these berries speak ‘temporary’ to you?Ā  What in your mind is temporary?Ā  Please let me know your thoughts, Iā€™d love to hear from you šŸ™‚ You can also follow meĀ in these places:Ā

My Peacock Books Book Haul banner

#BookHaul: Walker Books (2nd haul) November 2017 #MPBooks

Some of you may know that it’s my birthday tomorrow.Ā  I’m not sure what I’ll be doing for my birthday on this blog yet, I’m not sure if I’ll do much at all to be honest as I really haven’t planned anything but I’m sure I’ll come up with something if it’s even just a poem.Ā  In the meantime, what a wonderful present I got in the post yesterday from Walker Books.Ā  It’s more books!Ā  There’s two books that I’ve been sent and as usual I’m going to review them here as soon as I can.Ā  But in the meantime feast your eyes on these lovely books and tell me if you’re thinking of reading them (or have already!)…

The first is this beautiful book:

Walker November 2017 City of Bones
This book looks sooo good! (ignore the scuffed corner šŸ˜® )

The Mortal Instruments (Book 1): City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – The tenth anniversary of Cassandra Clareā€™s phenomenal City of Bones demands a luxe new edition. The pride of any fanā€™s collection, City of Bones now has new cover art, over thirty interior illustrations, and six new full-page colour portraits of everyoneā€™s favourite characters! This beautifully crafted collectorā€™s item also includes a new piece written by Cassandra Clare. A perfect gift for the Shadowhunter fan in your life.Ā  This is the book where Clary Fray first discovered the Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world and back to their own. The book where she first met Jace Wayland, the best Shadowhunter of his generation. The book that started it all.

That book sounds amazing but there’s another special book I got, at least it’s like a birthday gift for me!…

Walker November 2017 Julius Zebra
It’s the first Julius Zebra book! ‘Rumble with the Romans’! šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€ šŸ˜€

Julius Zebra: Rumble with the Romans by Gary Northfield – So you think you know ZEBRAS, do you?Ā  They’re handsome, eat lots of grass, and um…are always getting eaten by lions.Ā  Let’s face it, they’re a little bit boring and stupid, too.Ā  But a tussle with a grumpy gladiator can soon change a zebra…So cheer on our stripy hero, Julius, as he scraps for survival in history’s deadliest theatre: THE COLOSSEUM!Ā  Just don’t call him a horse! (or Debra…)

Having come to the Julius Zebra seriesĀ from the second book and read both ‘Bundle with the Britons’ and ‘Entagled with the Egyptians’ I’m so excited to be able to read the first book that started my love of this funny series!Ā  I also hear there’s going to be a fourth book in the series too, set in Ancient Greece! šŸ˜®Ā  I’m making a prediction of that cover being green (seeing as we’ve got a yellow, red, and blue cover already :P)

Let me know if you’ve read any of these books before or plan to, or even look forward to my reviewsĀ  šŸ˜
